Description

Hailed as “the perfect musical complement to the poetry of Wendell Berry,” this album pairs original recordings of Mr. Berry reading his poetry with choral music and art songs by composer Andrew Maxfield.

A disciplined multidisciplinarian and hopeless idea junkie, composer and producer Andrew Maxfield has appreciated Mr. Berry’s work since receiving a signed copy of The Memory of Old Jack as a gift in 1997. Andrew originated Celebrating Wendell Berry in Music as an expression of that gratitude. Comprising primarily choral, art song, and chamber works, Andrew’s compositions have been performed throughout the United States and Europe.
